I l U I L L l Fertilize emerging
perennials by scratching fertilizer into
the soil around the plants. Danger of
frost should end this month in most
places, making it safe to plant warm-
season flowers and vegetables.
s o u t h Now is the time to sow
seed or plant sprigs of Bermuda grass
and other Southern grasses. If you
haven’t cut back old stems in your
perennial beds, this is your last chance
before new growth becomes too large.
W C S t As weather heats up, make
sure beds are well-mulched, and give
your sprinkler system a tune-up to
make sure it runs efficiently. Fertilize
rhododendrons and azaleas with
fertilizer made for acid-loving plants.
